Hungary and East Germany have called for a political settlement of the Middle East conflict consistent with the United Nations Security Council’s Nov. 22, 1967 resolution. Support of such a settlement was contained in a joint communique issued after a visit to East Germany by Janos Kadar, leader of the Hungarian Communist Party. The communique condemned Israel’s “aggressive acts against the Arab countries” and expressed solidarity with the people of the Arab states and “the lawful rights of the Arab people in Palestine.”
