Police reported today that apparently one person was responsible for the fire-bombing of two London synagogues and a hall adjoining a third in a weekend attack. They found the remains of one of the home-made bombs bearing a painted swastika. No damage was done to the synagogues.

John Cardinal Heenan, Archbishop of Westminster, appealed in his sermon yesterday for racial tolerance in Britain and throughout the world. He warned that “those tempted to commit the sin of racial hatred should remember Belsen and Auschwitz,” the Nazi death camps.
