Two U.S. congressmen are asking colleagues to sign a letter urging U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan to cancel a trip to Iran. “Given Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s call for Israel’s destruction and his regime’s continuing defiance of the U.N. Security Council, we believe an official visit would seriously undermine international efforts to censure his outrageous remarks,” says the letter being circulated by Reps. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Robert Andrews (D-N.J.), co-chairmen of the House’s Iran Working Group.
