Two U.S. senators urged Vice President Al Gore to address the rise in anti- Semitism in Russia when he meets later this month with Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov. The two ranking members of a Senate foreign relations subcommittee, Sens. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.) and Joseph Biden (D-Del.), said in a letter to Gore that the United States must make it clear to the Russian government that it “expects from it a strong commitment to human rights and religious freedom.”
