Two-way Conference Discusses Raising Standards for Jewish Education

Problems concerning the raising of standards for Jewish education were discussed by 1,000 teachers and principals in Jewish schools in the New York area at a two-way conference which concluded here today. The conference was convened by the Jewish Education Committee of New York which serves more than 700 Jewish schools in the city.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Oscar Joanna, professor of history at the College of the City of New York. He headed a recent nationwide survey of Jewish education in the United States. Other speakers were Dr. Ariel Eisenberg, executive vice-president of the Jewish Education Committee; Dr. Judah Pitch, executive director of the American Association for Jewish Education; and Nathan A. Levine, president of the JAC.
