Three Louis Lamed Foundation annual prizes of $500 each for the best Yiddish and Hebrew books of the year were presented to Dr. Jacob Shatzky, Dr. N. Brussiloff and Prof. Z. Sharfstein at a public meeting here last night.
Dr. Shatzky received one of the two Yiddish prizes for a history of the Jews of Warsaw. Dr. Brussiloff received the award for his novel, in Yiddish, “By the Rivers of Polesia.” Prof. Sharfstein received a Hebrew prize award for his autobiography “There was Spring in the Land.” The second Hebrew prize was not awarded this year.
