The floods in the Vilna district have been followed by an outbreak of typhus. All wells within the city radius have been sealed by the authorities and the inhabitants are called on not to use any water without first boiling it.

The floods have claimed one victim in the township of Danilovitz, where a Jewish woman named Rebecca Linkowska has been drowned.

In the Grodno district the flood conditions are again causing anxiety. The river Niemen has risen six metres, and many streets are submerged.
