The program of “spiritual and cultural” genocide practiced by Rumania against its Jewish residents was condemned by the national executive board of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations at its annual meeting today.
The board, comprising leaders of Reform temples throughout the country, adopted a resolution expressing “profound concern over the continuing persecution of innocent Rumanian Jews by the Communist rulers of that country.”
The resolution contained a commendation of the “United States Department of State for having focussed world public opinion upon the Hitler-like campaign,” and a proposal that “our government place this question before the UN as soon as possible so that the spiritual and cultural genocide practiced by Red Rumania be halted.”
