U.J.A. Pays Tribute to Friedlander. Late Boston Jewish Leader

The United Jewish Appeal today paid tribute to the late Israel Friedlander, founder and first president of the Combined Jewish Appeal of Greater Boston, who died suddenly last week in Boston at the age of 63. Less than 24 hours before his death he participated in a Combined Appeal meeting. He was also active in other Jewish organizations and was a board member of the Associated Jewish Philanthropies.

Mr. Friedlander, who was born in Boston, was highly praised by M. M. Warburg. national chairman of the UJA, and Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, UJA executive vice-chairman, for his humanitarian activities on behalf of needy Jews. The UJA leaders sent condolences to the family of the deceased as well as to the Boston Jewish community.
