More than $1,600,000 was raised for the United Jewish Appeal this week at three regional conferences in the northeast, national UJA headquarters announced today, The funds were contributed at meetings in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Albany, New York, and Waterbury, Connecticut, by leaders from the Connecticut, New Jersey and Eastern New York regions.
More than 100,000 volunteers in 31 cities throughout the country this Sunday will pledge to intensify campaign activity in behalf of the United Jewish Appeal as they participate in a UJA-sponsored National Freedom Mobilization aimed against Communist attacks on the Jews of Eastern Europe and the State of Israel, it was announced today by William Rosenwald, a national chairman of the UJA and chairman of the nationwide mobilization.
