The United Nations today announced receipt of a cable from Dr. Hussein el Khalidy, Jordanian Foreign Minister, refusing to attend the UN-convened Israel-Jordan parley to discuss inadequacies and changes in the Israel-Jordan armistice agreement, requested by Israel under the terms of the pact. The cable read:
“Our view is that the Mixed Armistice Commission is adequate machinery for any necessary talks. It has existed for the last five years and has established headquarters and clerical organization. There is no need to create new machinery under the Secretary General. “
