The Israel Government was today considering a United Nations request to contribute $50,000 toward at $80,000,000 fund being raised to help save the Nubian antiquities which are in danger of being flooded through the construction of the Aswan Dam in Egypt.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which is in charge of the fund, had asked for the Israeli contribution, in spite of Egypt’s known hostility to Israel. The sites of the antiquities, which are located in Egypt and the Sudan, will be flooded by the waters of the Nile after the dam is completed.
