The United Nations General Assembly concluded its sessions here today after adopting a resolution calling for the observance of human rights. The resolution was adopted by 41 to zero, with 12 abstentions.
By a vote of 35 to 5, with 12 abstentions, the Assembly invited the U.N. Economic and Social Council to instruct the Commission on Human Rights to formulate recommendations on communications concerning human rights.
The Assembly also voted to postpone until its next year’s session consideration of a draft protocol relating to the status of stateless persons. The vote was 39 to zero, with 6 abstentions. Last night the Assembly voted to continue the work of the Subcommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities.
