The United Nations has turned down an Israel recommendation that all member states be guaranteed free access to U.N. conferences held in member countries. The vote was 16 against, four in favor, with 20 abstentions. The U.N.’s Legal Committee rejected an Israel resolution under which the Secretary-General would be “fully satisfied that all delegations and information personnel will have free access to the conference and enjoy equal treatment without discrimination of any kind.”
