The United Nations Social Committee this morning recommended that the International Law Commission continue its efforts to bring about international agreements which would reduce or eliminate statelessness.

In addition, the committee recommended that a conference of plenipotentiaries be convened to adopt a protocol to the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees so as to extend the protection granted under that convention to persons who are stateless without being refugees.
