A Yugoslav proposal outlining the proposed International Refugee Organization’s obligation to resettle displaced European Jews and Egyptian amendments aimed at hindering Jewish immigration into Palestine will be discussed this week by the U.N. Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee.
These amendments are among the more than 50 still before the Committee. The body yesterday defeated a Soviet proposal that the Intergovernmental Refugee Committee be liquidated following establishment of the IRO.
