The Israel-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission, meeting in extraordinary session today under the chairmanship of Gen. E. L. M. Burns, United Nations truce supervisor, decided to uphold its early decision calling on Egypt to release the S. S. Bat Galim, Israel vessel seized in Suez Waters Sept. 28, and to liberate the ten crew members.
The MAC decided today to eliminate from its resolution of Nov. 19 a phrase which characterized as “unfounded” the original Egyptian complaint that sending the ship through the Canal violated the Israel-Egyptian armistice pact. The MAC stressed, however, that elimination of this phrase in no way changed the content of its original resolutions on the Bat Galim case, which upheld Israel’s position,
