The United Nations headquarters here today reported that the U.N. Conciliation Commission for Palestine has asked the Israeli delegation at Lausanne for clarification of press reports of declarations made in the Israel Parliament concerning the installation of certain Israel government services in Jerusalem. The Commission also called attention to various press statements alluding to the transfer of some governmental services from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The Israel delegation declared that it knew nothing of the declarations in the Israel Parliament reported by the press, but that it would communicate with its government on this matter. The delegation stated further that the policy of the government with regard to Jerusalem continued to be that set forth by Aubrey Eban, permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations during the debate preceding the admission of Israel to the U.N. At that time Mr. Eban said Israel would preserve free access to the Holy Places.
