A major international tribute will be paid tomorrow to Ambassador Abba Eban at a dinner in the delegates dining room of the United Nations, it was announced today by Yosef Tekoah, Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations.
More than 400 United Nations delegates as well as top diplomatic and civic leaders will participate in the salute to the Ambassador, who is returning to Israel after ten years as Israel’s chief representative in Washington and before the United Nations. The dinner is being sponsored by the Israel Mission in conjunction with the National Testimonial Committee for Ambassador Eban.
(In Washington, a farewell lunch on was given for Mr. Eban by the State Department this week-end at the Blair House with Assistant Secretary of State William Rountree acting as host. Guests included Army Chief of Staff Lemnitzer, Central Intelligence Director Allen Dulles, Acting ICA head Leonard Saccio, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Edward B, Lawson, and others. Toasts were exchanged in honor of the presidents of the United States and Israel.)
