Leslie J. Carver, deputy director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for the Palestine Refugees, was killed today in an automobile accident outside Beirut, Lebanon. According to a cable received here from UNRWA headquarters Mr. Carver’s car collided with a Lebanese armored automobile outside Beirut.
UNRWA’s headquarters are in Beirut, and Mr. Carver, who had been acting director of the agency previously, has been in charge of UNRWA operations for the last three weeks since Dr. John H. Davis, the head of UNRWA, has been here to attend the current debate on the Arab refugee problem.
