The resignation of Dr. Joseph E. Johnson–since 1961 the special Middle East emissary of the United Nations Palestine Conciliation Commission, charged with trying to solve the Arab refugee problem–was accepted here today at a full meeting of the Commission.
Meeting in closed session, as it usually does, the three-man body–comprised of representatives of the United States, France and Turkey–voted to accept “with reluctance” Dr. Johnson’s insistence on resigning. He said he and his family must leave next month on a world tour scheduled a long time ago.
