Sir Alexander Cadogan, British representative to the United Nations, today indicated that he will reply on Friday to a number of questions submitted to the British Government by the U.N. Implementation Commission, dealing with the security situation in Palestine.
The Commission today completed revision of its first monthly report to the Security Council, which will be submitted on February 1st. The Council will meet shortly after it receives the Commission’s report, it was announced today at a press conference by Byron Price, U.N. Acting Secretary-General. He indicated that leading U.N. officials are greatly perturbed over the present developments in Palestine.
Andrei Gromyko, Soviet delegate to the Security Council, today told a representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that he expects the Implementation Commission to submit its special report on Palestine security “a few days after its first monthly report.”
The Commission today forwarded to the British delegation the request of the Jewish Agency for British withdrawal plans from Palestine. The plans were disclosed by Cadogan to the Commission under pledge of utmost secrecy.
