U.N. Secretary-general Considers Intervention for Jews Mistreated in Arab Countries

Secretary-General U Thant is considering “the use of his good offices” in the matter of persecution of Jews in some Arab countries, as requested by the permanent representative of Israel, Ambassador Gideon Rafael, who met with him on this subject, it was learned here today.

(In London, the World Jewish Congress received today a letter from I.D.M. Reid, director of the British Red Cross department of international affairs, stating that Jewish civilians in Egypt, Iraq and Syria, who are victims of Moslem oppressions as a result of the June war, are being aided by the International Red Cross.)
