Mrs. Pauline B. Cawley, a former personnel management analyst and consultant with the State of California Personnel Board, left for Israel to study and suggest improvements in the country’s Civil Service. She has been assigned to Israel for an initial six-month period under the United Nations program of technical assistance.
The Government of Israel has asked the United Nations for expert advice on the methods and procedure followed for entry and advancement examinations in the Civil Service. Mrs. Cawley is expected to propose ways and means for improving these examination procedures and to advise on the preparation of examinations, including aptitude and personality tests, professional examinations for different positions, and the method of verifying the reliability and validity of these tests.
