Two census experts and a geologist have been assigned by the United Nations Technical Assistance Board to aid Israel in their special capacities, it was announced here today. The census experts are William Hurwitz and Irving Weiss, both of whom are members of the professional staff of the United States Bureau of the Census.
Mr. Weiss, whose most recent position has been assistant chief of the U.S. Economic Operations Division, in Washington, is expected to stay in Israel a year. Mr, Hurwitz, who worked in Israel previously on a U.N. technical assistance assignment, will spend only two weeks in Israel this time. Both experts will assist the Israel Government in preparing for its next population census, so as to improve the country’s planning of economic and social developments.
The third expert sent by the U.N. is Prof. Rolf F. Rutsch, of Switzerland. He arrived in Israel three weeks ago, to help the Government’s Geological Institute.
