United Nations troops entering the Sinai Peninsula received this week “no fraternization” orders as far as Israeli soldiers were concerned but were not warned against intercourse with Egyptian troops, the Mizrachi newspaper Hatzofeh charted today.
In the past, Hatzofeh said, relations between Yugoslav contingents of the UN Emergency Force and Israeli troops withdrawing in front of them we are friendly. The newspaper insisted that the “no fraternization” orders originated among Swedish contingents of UNEF.
Hatzofeh also reported that signs have been posted at the easternmost limits of the UN-occupied Sinai territory warning that entrance was forbidden and that unauthorized persons attempting to enter would be fired on.
