Gen. E. L. M. Burns, Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization, lift for Beirut today to discuss with Lebanese officials the release of three Israel settlers who were apprehended in the Israel-Lebanon border region last week.
It is understood that the truce chief will point out to the Lebanese evidence of Israel’s goodwill in the prompt release of a Lebanese vessel recently found in Israel territorial waters and will urge the Lebanese to reciprocate this goodwill by releasing the three settlers.
A Greek vessel carrying 350 tons of dried fish for poultry feed was permitted to proceed unmolested through the Red Sea to the Israel port of Eilath after an Egyptian search party had inspected the ship’s manifest and cargo. The vessel came from Aden.
