The United Nations consular truce commission here will meet tomorrow to consider the Security Council’s plan to demilitarize Jerusalem and put the city under U.N. supervision, it was reported here today.
At the same time, the Arabs in Jerusalem continued to violate the truce order here. Jewish positions in scattered sections of the city were attacked throughout the night. At midnight the Arabs launched an assault on Jewish positions in the Mt. Zion area which was repulsed, with one Israeli soldier reported wounded. Dr. Bernard Joseph, chairman of the Jerusalem Emergency Committee, today submitted a strong protest to the chairman of the consular truce commission against the Arabs’ violations of the cease-fire.
Although the details of the Security Council’s plan for Jerusalem are not known here, it is understood that the scheme calls for the removal of all arms from within the city’s boundaries and the evacuation of all members of any armed force. It is also reported that the plan proposes the setting up of a U.N. force to police the city and insure its demilitarization.
