A resolution opposing the establishment of the Bar-Ilan University in Israel by the Mizrachi Organization was adopted here last night at the closing session of the 29th national convention of Agudah Israel of America. The resolution emphasized that “leading rabbinical authorities in Israel and in the United States are opposed to the planned Bar-Ilan University because it will make dangerous inroads into the Yeshiva system in Israel.”
The three-day convention, attended by 400 delegates, decided to establish a net of religious educational institutions in Israel. It urged the Israel Government not to grant any political status to the Jewish Agency. The delegates also adopted a number of decisions concerning the strengthening of Jewish religious education in the United States.
