The “vast job now being done by the Joint Distribution Committee in aiding Europe’s Jews” was praised here by U.S. Ambassador Jefferson Caffrey at a Chanukah party tendered by the J.D.C. to some 2,000 orphaned Jewish children.
Ambassador Caffrey also distributed toys and candy provided by the J.D.C. to the children. Similar parties were held throughout Europe with more than 300 parties being given in various DP camps and centers and in German communities for $5,000 children between the ages of four and sixteen.
