State Department press spokesman Joseph Reep said today that the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt has told Egyptian President Nasser that if reports of Jewish deportations are valid, the Egyptian action would cause “strong public reaction.” State Department sources, meanwhile, indicated that the Department believes that Egypt’s deportation of Jews has ceased.
