United States Ambassador Edward B. Lawson, who has been in Washington for consultations with President Eisenhower and the State Department during the past three weeks, was honored here this week at a reception tendered him by the Zionist Organization of America, on the eve of his return to his post in Tel Aviv.
Ambassador Lawson lauded the ZOA for its efforts in the “furtherance of good relations between our country and Israel.” He paid particular tribute to the cultural activities conducted through ZOA House in Tel Aviv. “It has done a splendid job of fostering and furthering those relations and in permitting interests among the Israelis in U.S. cultural developments as well as directing to the attention of resident Americans and visiting Americans the abounding cultural activities which now exist in the young nation of Israel,” he said. The reception was addressed by Harry Torczyner and Rabbi Philip S. Bernsten in, ZOA leaders.
