United States Ambassador to Israel, James G. McDonald, who announced yesterday that he was leaving for the United States on Friday for a vacation and for consultations with the State Department, declined comment today on reports that he had already submitted his resignation and did not intend to return here.

The evening newspaper Masriv reports, however, that although Mr. McDonald has not yet received an answer to his reported resignation from the State Department, he has, nevertheless, sold his furniture and automobile — an indication that he has no intention of returning here.
