A resolution urging the American and British Governments to intercede in behalf of the 21 Jewish soldiers who were sentenced to from one to two years by a Polish court-martial on charges of leaving the Polish forces was adopted here last night at a Warsaw Ghetto memorial meeting arranged by the American Committee of Jewish Writers and Artists.
In messages to the meeting Governor Thomas E. Dewey and Senator Robert F. Wagner paid tribute to the ghetto heroes. The Governor’s message said: “Although the Jewish community has tragically ceased to exist, the lesson of its valiant defense will belong in the memory of mankind. The world will never forget the heroic resistance of the entire Jewish community in Poland to the inhuman aggression of the Nazis.”
