Two agreements for the release to Israel of $13,500,000 in American economic assistance funds and $800,000 for technical aid were signed here this week-end at the Foreign Ministry by Ambassador Monett B. Davis for the United States and Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett for Israel.
The agreements cover the balance of the $64,300,000 granted to Israel by the United States under the Mutual Security Act for 1952. High officials of the Israel Government and members of the American Embassy staff witnessed the signature of the two documents and heard Mr. Sharett express the hope that the agreements were in the best interest of both nations while Mr. Davis expressed satisfaction at completion of the first grant to Israel.
Negotiations for a Swedish-Israel trade pact under which Israel will export Kaiser-Frazer cars assembled in Israel, citrus fruits and possibly textiles to Sweden are proceeding in Stockholm. The Jewish National Fund has obtained credits for Israel from Swedish private interests to the extent of 10 million kroner ($1,930,000.)
