The U.S. delegate in a truce resolution on Palestine, today asked the Security Council to order a “standstill” on all political and military action in Palestine as one of the basic conditions for a truce.

The request of the U.S. delegation could result in preventing the Jewish Agency from establishing a Jewish Provisional Council of Government. The U.S. delegation also asked the Security Council to issue a cease-fire order and set up a truce commission to go to Palestine for on-the-spot supervision.
