The United States postal authorities have taken steps to prevent further mis-routing of airmail copy addressed to its Jerusalem, Israel, following complaints by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that airmail addressed to its Jerusalem office had been sent to an Arab country where it had been subjected to censorship.
The office of the Inspector in Charge, in New York, advised the JTA that its complaint had been brought to the attention of the superintendent of the Airport Mail Facility at Idlewild “for necessary disciplinary and corrective action.”
The postal authorities said that “since it would not be possible to state with certainty at what point this letter was molested, it was not deemed necessary, in this instance, to bring the matter to the attention of the postal administration of Jordan, to which country it is believed it may have been sent inasmuch as there is a Jerusalem in that service.”
