United States authorities in occupied Germany “are not likely to favor” the request of the World Jewish Congress that graves of Jewish victims of Nazism in Germany be placed under international supervision, a spokesman for the U.S. High Commissioner said here today.
The official said that American policy in Germany is to strengthen democracy and to teach the Germans to look after their own affairs. “For that reason the Jewish proposal is unlikely to be acceptable,” he emphasized.
