The American Bicentennial Park in the Jerusalem hills was dedicated this week near Ness Harim in the presence of the U.S. Consul in East Jerusalem. John Mailon; Andrew Schlessinger, director of the U.S. Cultural Center in Jerusalem; and the chairman of the Ness Harim town council, Yitzhak Sajdoff. The Jewish National Fund organized a tour of the park for American Journalists.
More than 1000 school children representing schools in the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv area participated in the dedication ceremonies by planting Tu B’Shvat saplings in the new park. The ceremony was conducted by Rabbi M.C. Weiller of the JNF head office in Jerusalem. The American Bicentennial Park, a symbol of the long-standing friendship between the U.S. and Israel, is a project of the Jewish National Fund and the Jewish community in America.
