U.S. Britain and France Discussing Israel’s Demand for Reparations from Germany

A French Foreign Ministry spokesman revealed today that the United States, Britain and France are discussing Israel’s demand for $1,500,000 in German reparations. It is understood here that the three Western powers have decided to issue a simultaneous reply to Israel’s claim. France is purportedly holding off on announcing her reply to Israel because of the current talks.

(German Socialist leader, Dr. Kurt Schumacher told a press conference in Hamburg yesterday that Germany should give “speedy recognition” of its “moral debt to Israel.” Dr. Schumacher said he was “strongly opposed to a policy of ignoring our debt to the Jews by keeping silent about.”)
