A group of leading American industrialists and businessmen has established a new non-profit organization to boost Israel’s export and marketing program in the United States. The organization, Americans for Trade and Industrial Development with Israel (ATID), also hopes to promote new investments in Israel and to make the United States more receptive to Israeli products.
Albert Parker, New York attorney, has been named chairman of the ATID board and Allen J. Bloostein, president of Stern Bros. Department Store, president. Members of the board represent a number of outstanding American industrial and business firms.
The Israeli Minister of Commerce and Industry, Zeev Sharef, who is now in this country, is meeting with members of the ATID group in the major American cities to discuss new investments in electronics, machine tools, and the textile and pharmaceutical industries. He said in Washington that he had discovered “an entirely new climate” favoring investment in Israel by Americans.
