The recently established Arid Zone Research Institute at Beersheba, capital of the Negev, has a number of openings for qualified American chemists and engineers, it was announced here today by PATWA, the Office for Professional and Technical Workers of the Jewish Agency. The Arid Zone Research Institute, sponsored jointly by the National Research Council of Israel and UNESCO, has initiated an important research program designed to explore the feasibility of developing arid lands in every part of the world.
One of the projects now in progress at the institute and one which may have far-reaching consequences for Israel’s economic development is concerned with the desalination of water. In connection with this challenging project, the institute has openings for qualified American-trained organic chemists, preferably with research experience in polymers and iron exchange resins; physical chemists and chemical engineers with research background and experience in design, drafting, electrical instrumentation circuits and non-metallic materials. All positions are offered on a permanent basis.
