George Katimy, American-naturalized Christian Arab, facing a possible death sentence before a military court, denied on the witness stand today any complicity in the bombing of a Jewish workers’ cafeteria in Jerusalem on Jan. 16.
Katimy, testified after the court had denied a motion for dismissal of the charge. His attorney produced a certificate of record cabled from the State Department in Washington. Earlier in the day the prosecution concluded its three-day presentation.
Fifty shots were fired at the tel Arza Sanatorium today, marking the first incident of the kind in Jerusalem for weeks. Snipers fired from an Arab orange grove in Jaffa into the Shapiro quarter of neighboring Tel Aviv. No casualties were reported.
