The Reagan Administration commended the Israeli government today for its “thorough investigation” of the deaths of two Palestinian bus hijackers after they were captured alive when troops stormed the vehicle to free its passengers on April 13.
State Department deputy spokesman Alan Romberg said the U.S. “positively noted” the statement by Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Arens who made public yesterday the findings of a special inquiry committee that the hijackers had been bludgeoned to death while under interrogation. “The U.S. commended the efforts of the government of Israel to make a thorough investigation,” Romberg said.
