The United States today condemned the Palestine Liberation Organization for yesterday’s bombing in Jerusalem and said the bombing “absolutely” made the peace process more difficult. “We deplore the terrorist incident” and “condemn those who perpetrated it,” State Department spokesman Hodding Carter said. “Once again an act of violence has claimed human lives and inflicted suffering on innocent civilians. Coming as it did on the eve of the Jewish New Year makes the tragedy all the more poignant.”
