None of the 350 Jewish residents of Santo Domingo were killed or injured during the terrific hurricane which struck this island last week, killing more than a thousand, injuring other thousands and doing damage of several million dollars. This information was obtained from Mr. Clark, the American consul at San Domingo. The Jewish population of Santo Domingo is 70 families, most of them Sephardic. There are about a score of Ashkenazic Jews.
A New York Yiddish daily yesterday reported that 40 Jews had been killed and several score rendered homeless as a result of the hurricane.
