The Clinton administration’s coordinator for counterterrorism has arrived in Israel for a series of talks with his Israeli counterpart.
A Defense Ministry statement said Ambassador Philip Wilcox would be holding talks with Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s adviser on counterterrorism, Brig. Gen. Yigal Presser.
The statement said the talks were designed to examine the threat posed by international terrorism, and to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in counterterrorism between Israel and the United States.
Wilcox assumed his post in August 1994, after filling several foreign service and intelligence positions.
He and Presser visited the Erez checkpoint separating the Gaza Strip from Israel and were briefed by Foreign Ministry Director-General Uri Savir and military officials, including the coordinator of government activities in the territories, Maj. Gen. Oren Shahor.
