The United States Department of Agriculture announced today that a four-year grant, equivalent to $101,160 in Israeli pounds, was awarded to the National and University Institute of Agriculture, Rehovot, Israel, to finance studies of seedling emergence and establishment of forage plants in areas where rainfall averages eight to 12 inches annually.
Israeli scientists will determine how forage plants respond to spacing, seeding depth, soil compaction, moisture conditions, types of cultivation, and climatic variations. The research will be under technical supervision of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service.
