Surprise was expressed in the American colony today that the United States Embassy was represented at a Nazi conference “to promote German literature” in the Kroll Opera House, although all other legations ignored invitations.
German newspapers gave considerable importance to the conference, Alfred Rosenberg, Nazi cultural leader, and Dr. Walter Gross, head of the Nazi Party’s race department, were the principal speakers, stressing the importance of racial theories.
