United States diplomats stationed in countries throughout the Middle East will hold a four-day conference in Istanbul, Turkey, beginning May 11, it was reported today. A similar conference was last held there in 1951 and in Cairo last year.
Discussions on regional problems will be led by Henry A. Byroade, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. In attendance will be the heads of American missions in Israel, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
